Three Categories of Water

Category 1 – Clean Water

Some examples of category 1 – clean water can include tub or sink overflow, broken water supply line, broken toilet tank or bowl (with no contaminants). Category one can quickly become contaminated if not extracted and dried immediately. If your home or business has been damaged by water you will want to act quickly. Category 2 – Grey Water

Some examples of category 2 – grey water include dishwasher or washing machine overflows, toilet bowl overflows (with possible urine but no feces). Category two is contaminated and could cause illness. 

 Category 3 – Black Water

Some examples of category 3 – black water include flooding from rivers or streams, toilet backups (with feces). Black water is grossly contaminated.
